Nigeria: Supporting Persecuted Christians
In 2021, Nigeria had the highest rate of believers killed for their faith and the second-highest of church attacks in the country’s history. According to BBC News, over 23 separate mass attacks on believers and up to 30 attacks on the church have taken place this year alone. The ministry leader we support in Nigeria writes: ”Please continue to pray for us. The enemy of the Gospel is becoming more and more vicious. Attacks on churches are on the increase. The kidnapping of church leaders and asking for huge ransoms are becoming the order of the day.”
Spreading the Gospel and attending church has never been more dangerous in Nigeria. Despite this, our missionaries continue to reach unbelievers every day. As things become increasingly dangerous for Missionaries and Christians, our partners are finding more effective ways to evangelize. Our partnered ministry shares that the safest and most effective way to share the Word of God is by distributing food bags in poor communities. These food bags provide easy access to these communities, safer passage for our missionaries, and a great way to share the love of Christ to unbelievers and believers in need. Each food bag is about $15 and contains rice, seasonings, and other food staples to help each household.
Please pray for the safety of our brothers and sisters in Nigeria. If you are interested in giving, please call or visit our website at Globalcp.org.
