Myanmar: Caring for our Persecuted Brothers and Sisters

According to a report released by the United Nations, children in Myanmar suffer immensely from the devastating impact of the military coup in 2021. Young girls have been particularly affected as there have already been several reports of armed groups forcing families to give up their young daughters to traffickers. GCP’s partnered ministry in Myanmar has prioritized protecting as many young boys and girls as possible. These ministries have focused on rescuing boys and girls from being trafficked across country lines and introducing them to a safe and loving Christian home. One of these rescue centers provides more than 20 girls with an education, nutritious meals, and an opportunity to know the Lord. This center, along with the other orphanages, helps these children develop practical skills such as sewing or teaching so they can be equipped to find employment or receive higher education in the future.

One of the girls at this center recently wrote, “Before I went to live at the rescue center, many people around me questioned if the center had good intentions. They would say, “Will these people really help you, are they actually good people?” Now, I can say with certainty that the teachers and leaders are amazing people who love the Lord and really care about helping young girls in trouble. Because of this center, I can hear about the Bible every day with the other girls and have an opportunity to have a better future. I hope to become a medical doctor or a nurse one day. Thank you so much to GCP and my donor for their continued support and love. I thank God for this center every day.” This testimony is from one of more than 140 children receiving a loving community in Christ and a chance at a new life. Our GCP-supported ministries in Myanmar ensure that every child’s needs are met and, most importantly, they have an opportunity to hear the Gospel for the first time. Thank you to our donors that continue to support these girls and ministry!

Please pray that the Lord will pour out His love for these children, and that He will continue to protect our ministries sharing the light of Christ to the next generation.
