Afghanistan: Christian Education For Children

In Afghanistan, education has become a luxury for most families. With poverty rising sharply each year, many parents can no longer afford the school fees required to send their children to class. The situation is even more dire for girls, as the Taliban has officially banned education beyond the 6th grade. Even those in primary school now face increasing challenges, as girls are prohibited from being taught by male teachers, and the few remaining female teachers are being pressured to leave their jobs. Without access to education or future opportunities, some families—desperate and impoverished—have even turned to the practice of selling their young daughters into child marriage.

One of GCP’s partnered ministries has been faithfully operating a Christian school for more than 400 boys and girls in Afghanistan, where they receive a free education, daily meals, and an opportunity to learn about Christ.  Our missionary has joyfully shared that several students—and even their parents—have since accepted Jesus as their Savior! In order to survive the harsh winters, the school is looking for several supplies for the building and the families. Examples include, coal, school supplies, food packages, and warm clothing and boots for the children.

Please consider partnering with us to support this school that is offering hope and Christ to families in need.

Please pray for the children attending this Christian school in Afghanistan—that they may grow in wisdom and faith as they learn. Pray for the safety of missionaries, and that many more students and families would come to know the saving love of Christ.
