In the last 20 years, persecution in Egypt against Christians has steadily increased. The attacks that occur are frequently carried out by vigilante Islamic groups, but often with the unspoken acceptance of local law enforcement. The police’s complicity emboldens Islamists and the violence enables the state to enact militant security measures. Pray for a government that will act with fairness to protect believers from violence and religious discrimination.
