Ethiopia: Two Pandemics

The COVID-19 pandemic is having a devastating impact on the already fragile livelihoods and unstable economies of East Africa. In recent months, flooding and displacement have pushed thousands into food insecurity. In addition, a predicted second generation of desert locust infestation poses a large-scale threat to food security in this region. An already bleak food security picture is being compounded as the COVID-19 pandemic is turning into a hunger pandemic.

GCP has continued to provide funds to a ministry in Ethiopia helping reach unreached people groups with food packages and the Gospel. In our first disbursement, we sent enough funds to distribute roughly 200 food packages to the most vulnerable. But the need is great and there are many more people who are at risk of starvation if we do not continue providing support.
