Pakistan: Hope in the Midst of Despair
The catastrophic flooding that swept through Pakistan last summer has left millions in the most desperate situations. Countless families have lost their homes, jobs, and have no options to provide for their families. Many people have even resorted to giving up their children because they can no longer care for them. This month, one of our GCP-sponsored missionaries visited a village severely affected by the flooding and met a family in complete despair and turmoil. The family explained to the missionary that before the flood, they had taken out a loan for their farm. The flood destroyed their farm, all the crops, animals, and home. This family of 8 was left without employment, a home, or any money to buy food or water, much less pay back their debt. The situation was so dire that the father of the family planned to commit suicide after taking his family's life. That is until a GCP-supported missionary met this family, shared the hope of Jesus, and provided them with food packages, clean water, a Bible, and reassurance that the ministry would be raising money to help them build a new home and pay off their debt. Thanks to your generosity, this family has now had the opportunity of a new life in Christ.
Please pray that God will bring more awareness to the great need of believers and unbelievers alike following last year’s flooding in Pakistan.
