India: The Importance of Borewells

Borewells play a pivotal role in the lives of many families in India. For most villages, these wells are the only source of clean water they have for miles. Drinking water, bathing, and caring for livestock are among the top uses for a treated and purified borewell. In many ways, it is the lifeline for many communities. One of the ways our brothers and sisters in this region are being persecuted is through banishment from their communities. As a result, new believers are being shunned from shared community borewells. We have countless testimonies from our native missionaries of families no longer allowed to use these wells because of threats of violence and harassment from their neighbors who are usually religious fanatics. The result is that these families have no access to water or must travel miles away to gain access to another well. Through our donors' timely support and generous giving, GCP and our partnered ministry in India recently built four borewells, which grant clean water to over 20 families! This is not only a way to share the love of Christ with our Christian family in India, but also as a testament to no believers that the Lord provides for his children.

Please pray that these wells will be a blessing and that it will embolden the faith of our brothers and sisters facing persecution from their communities.
