Northern African Countries: New Converts in Need of Support
Pastor Axel teaching in a special meeting for new converts.
Recently, GCP’s President Axel Lanausse and a GCP donor traveled to two countries to evaluate new ministries for our organization to sponsor. During this trip, they met with several new believers who converted to Christianity from Muslim backgrounds. These new believers live a challenging reality where there is always a risk of persecution and violence because of their faith. One powerful testimony that was shared was from Nihad, a new believer who left her Muslim background. Nihad was married six different times to different Muslim men, and around the time she was saved, she was living with her final partner, who believed in Christian principles, although not committed. However, when her Muslim neighbors found out, they threatened to kill her new partner unless he converted to Islam and married Nihad. In Islamic countries, conversion to Christianity is prohibited, and the only conversion permitted is to Islam. Her partner was forced to convert to Islam and marry Nihad. Shortly after she was married, Nihad had an encounter with Jesus through a dream, and she gave her heart to the Lord willingly. Because she didn’t have other Christians to ask questions, she immediately began to look for information about Jesus. Eventually, she explained to her new husband that he needed to repent and accept Jesus. Soon Nihad had led her husband and daughter to Christ! Shortly after the conversion of her family, she was able to find a Christian ministry leader who was reaching new believers in this country. Nihad is now being discipled by the ministry and was the most joyful, loud, and grateful worshipper at the discipleship conference that GCP supported!
For years now, our Lord Jesus has been appearing in visions and dreams to thousands of Muslims. But because of the risks involved, there aren’t too many ministries working among the Muslim communities in these difficult countries. An additional challenge is that many converts from Muslim backgrounds are not welcomed in churches. This is because many churches are afraid of the harsh implications this could bring from the Islamic authorities. New converts from Islam to Christianity face persecution from their families, beatings, and discrimination to get a job or housing. So, in essence, many of these new believers are left without a church to grow other than the meetings that are put together for new believers by these bold ministries. Leaders of these ministries carry out these underground meetings for groups in several locations throughout these countries without any regular support. This ministry urgently needs support to cover transportation and meals to bring together these new believers who love the Lord. Monthly support will not only enable this ministry to continue teaching Scriptures but also offer them help in the many difficulties they now face as Christians. GCP has various missionary couples working despite the intense risk of being arrested or killed for doing this ministry.
Please call GCP (352-243-2030) and ask to provide monthly support for these missionary couples. We will send you their profile by mail (names, photos, and countries will be changed for security reasons). Please prayerfully consider supporting them as they are risking everything to obey the Lord!
