China: The Rise of Creative Evangelism

GCP-sponsored missionary from China

“Even as the persecution is getting stronger, they still try to find creative and strategic ways to obey the great commission. “The ongoing and persistent persecution against Christians by the Chinese government continues to grow more apparent with each passing year. Chinese believers are threatened by family members and labeled as traitors, while the communist party chips away at any freedom of the church. Although Christian churches are tolerated, many are heavily surveilled and are provided with altered Bibles that fall in line with the government’s ideology. Worst of all, children under the age of 18 are legally forbidden from attending any church services. The younger generation has little to no access to the Gospel as the government is also surveilling and prohibiting digital media, especially anything to do with our faith. Despite the oppression from their government, this has not stopped believers from finding creative ways to share their faith. One GCP-sponsored missionary is reaching the next generation with the help of fellow believers! This past month, our missionary

helped start a church in the home of a Christian family that specifically targeted university students. Through this home ministry, several college students were disciplined and became devoted Christians who went on to start their own home churches in their towns! One of these students also started a soccer club to reach families with young children. Our missionary is now partnering with this student to help him use sports to evangelize to children! This encouraging message from our native missionary inspires hope and resilience for believers in China pursuing the Great Commission!

Please pray for Chinese Christians as they continue to persevere through their oppressive government. Pray that the Lord will continue working through our partnered missionary and fellow leaders.
