Tanzania: The Power of the Gospel
One of the native missionaries sponsored by GCP in Tanzania recently shared a testimony regarding a new believer in his village. He explained that this villager was a severe alcoholic who would often verbally and physically abuse his wife and two children. It got so bad, even his neighbors started noticing and would get angry with his behavior. Word of this man’s situation eventually got to brother Katembo at which point he felt called to go share the Gospel with him.
“My understanding was that even though he was abusing his family the man needed Jesus Christ to be freed from the alcohol bondage,” said brother Katembo. During their conversation, brother Katembo realized that this man just needed someone who wouldn’t look down on him like many in the community were doing. The man went on to explain that he had grown up with a lot of abuse in his household and felt like he had started repeating the cycle within his own family. Brother Katembo shared that God could free him from this cycle and forgive his sin if he would accept Jesus Christ as Lord. The man broke down and agreed to pray with brother Katembo. That day, this man gave his life to Christ. Since becoming a believer, he has stopped drinking completely and has been taking much better care of his family; which have now all become members of the church! And if this wasn’t encouraging enough, through this man’s testimony, several villagers have now visited the church, saying things like, “if the Christian God can change this man, maybe he is real.”
Please pray that GCP will be able to increase the number of native missionaries we support throughout Tanzania and Africa, so that they can be used by God to perform miracles and lead more unreached people to Christ!
