Myanmar: Tools for Girls
This year, Myanmar had one of the highest rates of gender-based violence in the world. Young women and girls in this country continue to be vulnerable to horrific abuse or to being sold to traffickers. On top of this, the pandemic has left many young women without homes, education or any skills to help them survive.
Our partnered ministry in Myanmar has worked non-stop to save these girls from these circumstances through our rescue center. This center identifies at-risk girls and offers them a home where they are given education, shelter, and a community in Christ. With the generous donations from our donors, GCP has been able to rescue 20 girls as of this summer! This rescue center was also provided with seven sewing machines to conduct sewing classes. In Myanmar, sewing is a great skill for women as it allows them to generate income for their families. These sewing classes ensure that these young girls in the rescue center will have a skill that will allow them to care for themselves and their families in the future.
GCP needs to provide many more of these sewing machines for Christian women in India and Pakistan. If you’re interested in giving towards this need please call us or visit our website at www.globalcp.org.
