West Bengal: "A Timely Outreach"
As a result of the pandemic as well as continued flooding throughout the country, the poverty rate in India has increased to over 15%, meaning that over 230 million Indians can’t afford to support or feed their families. To help address this crisis, GCP has been sending funds to ministries who are distributing food packages among these impoverished communities. On February 2, 2022, a ministry partner’s missionaries visited one of the villages of the East Mednipore district called Namaldiha. The crops and the food supply of this village had been completely destroyed by a recent flood and the community was in desperate need of food.
One can imagine the joy and relief this community felt as these missionaries began distributing these food packages. In total, the ministry was able to bless 80 families with 80 food bags during this visit. These food bags contained enough food and basic necessities for more than two weeks for each family. GCP was the only Christian organization that had helped this town following the recent flooding! Because of you, not only were we able to bless this community by providing for their physical needs, we demonstrated the love of Jesus and opened a door for the Gospel to be spread as well.
Thank you to our donors who continue to give towards our food bag program! If you are interested in helping, there are many communities still in need of support. Please contact info@globalcp.org if you’d like to get involved!
