Ethiopia: Helping Solve a Good Problem
Christian leaders in Ethiopia are currently facing what could be referred as a good problem: they have been seeing so many unreached people come to Christ that they are running out of Bibles to give to these new believers! For us in the US, a church not being able to provide a new Christian with a Bible would probably just be a minor inconvenience, as the new believer could likely find one elsewhere easily. However for the majority of these new Ethiopian believers, the church is their only access to a Bible.
As a result, when they run out, this represents a significant obstacle for their spiritual growth. GCP’s main ministry leader in Ethiopia put it this way, “The need of the Bible is too much. These shortages cause problems in the spiritual growth of these new converts. In Ethiopia each Bible costs only $7. Our goal is to distribute at least 1,200 Bibles in the next months.” On one hand, we praise God for the amount of new believers that are causing such a demand for the Word of God; on the other, we ask you to consider helping us provide this much needed gift!
Please pray that GCP will be able to provide more Bibles to new believers in Ethiopia hungry for the Word of God.
